We at The Sign Distillery are sign manufacturers, sign installers, and sign designers. As sign designers, we appreciate the simplicity of the sign. Sign usage goes all the way back to ancient history, perhaps even before then as early humans painted signs on cave walls. Signs can be elegant in their simplicity. But sometimes, you don’t want a sign that’s simple. Sometimes, we want a sign that’s a bit more complex, a bit more intricate, a bit more . . . electric.
Electronic signs have a few advantages over those simple, more traditional forms of signage. For one, they’re brighter. Electronic signs are ideal for standing out in dim light, but even in the brightness of day, electronic signs tend to be more visible than standard signs. Electronic signs can achieve a vibrancy of color that even the most well-made traditional signs cannot equal.
There are many different types of electronic signs that themselves range from fairly simple to quite complex. Neon or fluorescent signs stand out and grab people’s attention in a dynamic and even fun way. Sometimes electronic signs are very functional, as “EXIT” signs are with their red lighting. And then there are digital signs that use screens to display a number of different messages that change at previously set intervals.
